About us

JBB Rechtsanwälte was founded in 1999 by three attorneys. This modest beginning has meanwhile grown to form a team of 15 professionals. Our core areas of practice include trademark and competition law, copyright and entertainment law, as well as information technologies (IT) and data protection law. We provide full ranged advisory and litigation services in these fields at all levels.

We aim at assisting our clients in developing strategies to addressing legal problems that are attractive from a business point of view. This approach encourages us to remaining open-minded and flexible yet rigorous with our analysis, solutions and adjustments to the legal environment in which our clients operate.

The strategic development of our firm is dominated by expertise rather than size. We consider ourselves a team, in which each attorney possesses unique skills and experience concerning the particular legal matters under his or her responsibility. As part of our concept of teamwork, we consider the continuous exchange among us an essential part of our practice. Learning from each other helps not only in building a solid body of knowledge. It also mobilizes expansion of our skills to covering related and new legal disciplines.

Building knowledge is important, and as part of this effort, members of our team have been continuously present in the professional and academic literature. They are also frequent speakers in conferences, workshops and public events. According to the JUVE Handbook, a leading publisher of ranking and evaluation of commercial law firms in Germany, our firm is both listed and recommended in the nationwide ranking as proficient in the categories of “Information Technology: Contracts and Litigation” and “Competition Law” (2010/2011). Our firm also received favorable reviews in previous editions in the categories “Trademark and Competition Law” (2009/2010), “Information Technology Law” (2009/2010), as well as “Media Law” (since 2010/2011).

Our sound reputation in the field of intellectual property law led to appointing one of our partners in 2008 a member of the DAV´s (the German Lawyers Association’s) founding committee for a study group on “Intellectual Property and Media.” He has subsequently been elected Chair of the IP and Media study group.

Like the business of its clients, JBB Rechtsanwälte is internationally oriented. A number of our professionals acquired academic degrees abroad and some of us are licensed to practice law in foreign jurisdictions such as the United States and Israel.
