Julia Gebert advises German and foreign IT businesses as well as educational institutions and software developers, mainly on copyright and contract law. Since Julia Gebert is qualified in Common Law (Bachelor of Laws, University of Sydney, Australia) and Civil Law (German Attorney-at-Law) she often negotiates international contracts in all areas of IT law.
Julia Gebert’s practice focuses in particular on the legal issues of Open Source Software. Her services in this area range from providing advice on compliance and enforcing licenses both in and out of court, to drafting and negotiating contracts.

Professional Training
Julia Gebert studied jurisprudence in Munich, Sydney, Australia, and Lausanne, Switzerland. Whilst studying in Munich, she was working for the Bavarian Broadcasting (Television) as well as for the editorial office of the publisher C.H. Beck. After graduating, she worked as an academic assistant in the field of IP and entertainment law for the Munich office of an international law firm and in Paris for a Franco-German law firm. During her practical legal training in Berlin she worked for the German Federal Ministry of Economics (Department for European Policy and International Organisations), the legal department at MTV Networks and the Media & Entertainment division of Linklaters LLP.
