Karen Schiefelbein is an attorney at JBB since 2020.
Her field of expertise is European air passenger rights. She is a specialist in dispute resolution and litigation at state courts as well as a strategic advisor to her clients for extrajudicial arrangements to enable effective and efficient enforcement of client rights.
Professional Training
Karen Schiefelbein studied law at the University of Hamburg focusing on European and international law. She expanded her knowledge of European law during a semester abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France. Subsequently, she represented the University of Hamburg at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and completed an internship at a business law firm in Perth, Australia. Furthermore, she received a scholarship from the Leibniz Institute for Media Research/Hans Bredow Institute and successfully completed the summer school of the "National Law School Delhi" in India on the topic "Privacy in an Online Environment".
Next to her studies, she simultaneously worked for the Chair of European and International Law at the University of Hamburg and for a large media company based in Hamburg for several years. As part of her education, she took an interest in various aspects of international law at an early stage. After her first state examination, she gained further professional experience in the enforcement of claims in private building law at a major international construction project of a large-scale energy provider.
During her training for the second state examination, she worked, among other things, in the administration of the German Bundestag in the public relations department and in a renowned law firm in Cape Town, South Africa. In addition, she worked for the legal department of an international company in the music industry for several years during and after her legal clerkship.
